Death and Aging

Our culture just doesn’t accept aging and death as natural parts of our lives. Look at how much money we spend on anti-aging products and how hard we fight against the inevitability of death.

According to Maté, healing necessarily involves our full acceptance of death. This may seem like an oxymoron, however, I know from personal experience that if you plan for your death, e.g. you get your affairs in order, your will written, etc. that brings great peace of mind and comfort to your present day. It reduces stress and allows you to look forward to the rest of your life with joy.

Accepting that our days on Earth are finite, inspires us to spend our remaining days, however long they may be, focused on the things which are important to us.

Earlier when I started this series of blogs I mentioned how important stress reduction is to our healing. So I can now say with utter conviction that preparing for our death in order to heal in the present, is not an oxymoron.
