Personal Priorities
Have you ever said, or thought, “I’m so bored. I wish there was some excitement in my life.”? Be careful what you wish for!
From one minute to the next, life can throw you an unexpected curveball: a negative medical diagnosis, a car accident, a freak accident of any kind or something else that affects you or someone you love. Suddenly life is exciting in a very unpleasant way.
I have just come home from spending three weeks at the hospital bedside of a family member who is too f@#$!ing young to be fighting for their life after an unexpected and unusual accident.
When things like that happen and you catch yourself walking around muttering, “I wish I was bored again!”, it really makes you examine your life’s priorities.
This is my way of saying that my freshly recognized priorities are: my health, my happiness and my family. This means that I am going to write another book, because I love writing and life is too short to spend not doing what you love. I also love counselling people and helping them meet life’s challenges, so I will continue to counsel.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you want to discuss this, or any other mental health topic. It turns out I’m pretty practiced now at paring down priorities to just the most important ones and if you need help sorting through your priorities, I’m available.
